NDA Cellphone and Personal Digital Device Policy According to AP 352
Cell Phone and Personal Digital Device Policy at Notre Dame Academy
Expectations regarding the use of cellphones and electronic devices at Notre Dame Academy, as outlined in our MHCBE Administrative Policy 352. These guidelines are in place to create an environment that promotes learning and minimizes distractions.
1. Cell phone Storage During School Hours: Upon arriving at school, students are required to place their cellphones in their lockers. These devices must remain in their lockers for the entire school day, with the exception of specific circumstances listed below.
2. Approved Cell phone Use: Students are permitted to use their cellphones only during the following situations:
- For medical reasons (e.g., checking a diabetic monitor, etc.).
- If it is part of their Instructional Support Plan.
- During the outside portion of their lunch break only.
- When teachers are conducting a supervised activity within their classroom.
3. Consequences for Inappropriate Use: If a student is found using their cellphone at inappropriate times, the device will be turned into the office for the remainder of the day. Cell phones will be returned to the student at the end of the day. Further consequences, determined by administration, will follow depending on the nature and frequency of the infraction.
4. Other Personal Digital Devices: Please note that other personal electronic devices, such as iPads, Chromebook, iWatches, etc. will also be confiscated if they are used in a manner similar to cell phones.
We appreciate your support in helping us enforce these guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at the school.
